4Degrees 2022 Year in Review

2022 was a year of growth and learning at 4Degrees. We kept busy building a more comprehensive product and adding new features and improvements based on customer feedback to empower relationship-driven teams with the tools they need to succeed. We also partnered with dozens of organizations worldwide, from boutique VC funds to larger investment banks and PE shops.

Listening to our customers and prospects allowed us to understand better their specific use cases and processes to ensure 4Degrees keeps on adding value by enabling teams to unleash the full power of their relationship networks and close more deals faster.

On the product side, we focused on making 4Degrees faster and more user-friendly while adding new features designed to increase our users’ efficiency- allowing them to spend more time building relationships.

Let’s look at some of the product features we added in 2022.

Brand New Reporting Engine

Efficient deal-driven teams are also data-driven teams. At 4Degrees, we recognize that you need real-time access to accurate data to effectively leverage your relationship network and stay on top of deals. With this in mind, we completely revamped and redesigned our reporting engine- starting with a brand-new reporting homepage.

Other improvements include an updated and easier-to-use user interface (UI), improvements in data visualization and brand-new functionality like CSV exports, and enhanced sorting & filtering capabilities.

Our reporting engine empowers you with the data you need to uncover opportunities and source your next deal.

You can now quickly find answers to questions such as: who in your team is sourcing the most deals? What is the average fund commitment? What stage in the pipeline takes the longest to progress? All in a smooth, simple & easy-to-learn interface.

New Mobile User Interface

As the world opened up post-COVID and deal makers began traveling and having more in-person meetings, the 4Degrees mobile app became a crucial part of their workflows, especially on the road. To ensure users got the same experience on the 4Degrees web and mobile apps, we gave the Android and iOS mobile applications a complete makeover.

The new mobile user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) are very similar to the 4Degrees web application, making it easier to view every detail of any deal or contact while staying on top of your relationships, deals, and tasks from anywhere.

Enhanced Chrome Extension

Switching browser tabs is a real pain, especially if you have dozens open at a given time. With the 4Degrees Chrome extension, we want to provide you access to your CRM data and the power of relationship intelligence without switching back and forth between tabs. To make this happen, we added new functionality to the Chrome extension.

Notifications on Generic Websites

When navigating to a company’s website, a yellow square next to the 4Degrees Google Chrome extension will notify you if there are any associated deals or pre-existing connections to anyone from that company. All without having to leave the page you are browsing.

Gmail Enhanced Suggestions

Accessing relationship intelligence directly from your inbox can help you find a warm introduction in seconds.

When reading an email or drafting a new message, the extension will notify you if any of your teammates know the person you are emailing or know someone who works at their firm. The extension will also notify you when your teammate last corresponded with their connection at the firm- allowing you to see if you have any connection you were unaware of.

Chrome Context Menu

You can automatically add new deals to a 4Degrees list or search for keywords in 4Degrees via the Chrome extension by highlighting and right-clicking a word/phrase, allowing you to leverage the power of 4Degrees directly from your browser. No more switching tabs!

Granular Sharing Settings

We understand that not all of your email correspondence should be visible to every team member. With this in mind, we added more granularity to the level of information about your network and email communications you can share with other team members. This new functionality allows you to restrict a user’s access to lists, interaction types, email types, and email subject lines.
